Georgia Arms: A Life of Family, Transformation, Purpose and Legacy
Georgia is a warm, caring, and confident woman whose life is centered around making a positive difference in the people around her. Her purpose is to help others through health, finance, and friendship while encouraging them to believe in themselves, take the next step, and never stop dreaming.
Georgia’s story began in Hamilton, Texas, where she grew up on a farm as the daughter of a preacher and one of ten children. Growing up in a large family taught her the value of hard work, faith, relationships, and staying connected to the people who matter most. Today, closeness of family remains her greatest focus and her greatest accomplishment. Georgia believes that when communication within a family is strong, they can weather any storm.
In June 2006, Georgia attended Discovery. She entered D1 heartbroken, but walked out strong and confident. Twenty years later, the impact of that experience continues to shape her life. One of the greatest blessings of her Discovery journey has been watching the transformations that take place on Sunday mornings and hearing the powerful testimonies of others. For Georgia, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing people grow, change, and discover their own strength.
One especially meaningful moment came when Georgia’s mother-in-law saw the transformation in her and said, “I want what you have.” To Georgia, those words were a powerful reminder that personal transformation can influence the people around us. The changes we make in our own lives can inspire others to seek change in theirs.
Volunteering at Discovery has given Georgia another opportunity to witness transformation firsthand. Her favorite part of serving is seeing people take steps forward and become stronger and more confident. She understands that everyone’s journey is different, and sometimes the most important thing a person needs is someone willing to listen.
One of the most valuable tools Georgia has gained from Discovery is the idea of taking “one small step.” When someone feels trapped or overwhelmed, she believes the question to ask is, What is one small step you can take to get out of the trap you are in? Progress does not always happen through one giant decision. Sometimes it begins with one small step in the right direction.
Georgia has also learned the importance of truly listening to others. Rather than assuming what someone needs, she believes in asking questions, understanding their situation, and discovering how she can genuinely help. Her caring nature allows her to connect with people and encourage them wherever they are in their journey.
Perhaps the most meaningful part of Georgia’s Discovery story is that four generations of her family not only serve Discovery, but live it. For her, this is a lasting legacy—a reflection of the values and lessons that have become part of her family’s life.
After two decades, Georgia continues to carry those lessons forward with confidence and purpose. Her story is one of transformation, family, service, and resilience. From growing up on a Texas farm as one of ten children to becoming a source of encouragement for those around her, Georgia has learned that life is about more than where you begin. It is about the steps you take, the people you bring with you, and the dreams you continue to pursue.
Her message is simple and powerful: never stop dreaming.
